AFAB kickoff African Students Climate Change Education Clubs in Anambra State.


It was an exciting event as the students of Girls Secondary School Ojoto, in idemili South LGA, Anambra State went agog for activating the African Students Climate Change Education Club (ASCCEC) in the school.


It's a historical project as Anambra State have become the first State in Nigeria to activate Climate Change Education project in their secondary schools, an initiative of Afri-AID Across Borders (AFAB International Organization) an NGO working on humanitarian intervention, environmental development and climate change education/awareness, SDGs, education and agricultural support, etc.


Afri-AID Across Borders in partnership with State Ministry of Environment (ANSG) & Anambra Waste Recyclers Association (AWRA) commence orientation and activation of the educational project on African Students Climate Change Education Club (ASCCEC) at Girls Secondary School Ojoto.


Speaking during the inauguration, the school principal Princess Okonkwo appreciated the vision and the initiative of Afri-AID Across Borders, saying, it's a welcome development and promised to cooperate with the AFAB management and it's Partners for sustainability of the project in the school.


Also speaking during the event was the founder and president of Afri-AID Across Borders, Engr. Ezeka Paul who in return thanked the school management and the students for accepting the project and gave a warm welcome to his team that visited the school.


He highlighted key factors of climate change, its negative impact on our health, crops, weather/ecosystem, economic, education, etc. and encourage the students to adhere to environmental/climatic instructions for healthy environment and healthy lifestyle.


Three teachers from environmental related background was nominated to drive the project in the school, they are Nzekwe Nkiru, Obianyo Chioma, Nwachukwu Love.


The AFAB team handed over to the school management the Climate Change Education Curriculum and students registration form to commence the project without delay.


Engr. Ezeka Paul also promised the management of the school that with the support of their partners 'The State Ministry of Environment (ANSG) & Anambra Waste Recyclers Association (AWRA), they will ensure that the project is sustainable and will donate digital learning materials to support the project, such as projector set, power generator, laptop, TV, and other items, as well as helping the school with mini cyber cafe to enable conveniently do their research and assignment.


Afri-AID Across Borders (AFAB International Organization listed 10 schools to benefit from the African Students Climate Change Education Club project in Anambra State, the project will also be activated in other States, as it's already active in other African countries where the organization have branches, like, Sierra Lonnie, Tanzania, Uganda, DRC, etc.


He also call on both government agencies, national and international organizations, private institutions/companies and individuals to join in partnership for more effective coverage and implementation of the project in other states Nationwide.
